Budget 4WD Travel

 

My name is Lis and I’m a 40 something New Zealand woman born in England raised in New Zealand. I have had a passion for travel ever since we migrated to New Zealand when I was 7 and spent 6 weeks on a boat (because it was cheaper than flying – yes that long ago!). It wasn’t that I missed England or hated New Zealand, it was just that I missed 12 weeks of school, because we sailed at the end of the English school holidays and I thought that was pretty cool!
Quick Travel Resume:

• 1988 Working in British Columbia, Canada, across Canada by bus, in the winter and then working in London, UK, Europe by Eurail and Egypt for some warmth

• 1989 UK to NZ via India, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia

• 1993 6 months in South America: Tierra del Feugo to Ecuador

• 1994 2 months in Southern India

• 1996 2 months in Turkey and Syria

• 2001 2 months in Spain, Portugal and Greece

• 2005 2 months in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos

• 2007 6 months in Australia

Other stuff I do to fill in my time:

• to 1983 Student England and NZ

• 1983-1987 Geologist Australia, Papua New Guinea and Canada

• 1988 Student, Australia

• 1989 unemployed – see above!

• 1990-2007 IT in various forms: GIS, Manager, Project Manager, Business Analyst New Zealand

• 2007 self-employed Internet entrepreneur

I met my partner, Paul, and I have lived together since 2007 and although previously not doing much travelling, as one of his friends said a few years later: these days he’s never at home! Very luckily for me he is in IT as well and is currently supporting me while I get this business up and running and more importantly paying! Thanks Paul. We used to have a cat and a dog but they both died of old age, we don’t have any children, it would slow the travelling down way too much!
